UCSF sought Herrero for the complex renovations of an existing Cardiac surgery suite, located on the 5th floor of its in-operation Parnassus hospital. Patient and staff safety, comfort, and sensitivity was of the utmost importance throughout construction.
The Heart Center project consisted of the abatement/demolition of existing lab/office areas, and the construction of two Cath Labs, two EP Labs, prep/recovery area, locker room, restrooms, and offices. New HVAC equipment was added to the adjacent roof (2EA Air Handling Units & 2EA Exhaust Fans). The project was built directly above the Operating Rooms on the floor below.
An additional clinical lab renovation consisted of some abatement/demolition and upgrades to support areas/offices, and above ceiling renovations to the existing Clinical Lab. All renovations took place while the lab remained in operation and required tightly choreographed construction schedules and deliveries to accommodate its staff.
Additionally, Herrero was responsible for the installation of a new exhaust fan, located on the center's adjacent roof.
